It has been reported that Showtime has made plans to develop a drama to be produced by Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan.
The untitled drama, that is to be written by ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK’s Gary Lennon, will be set in 1983 at a Venice Beach rehab clinic. This will come as familiar territory to Downey Jr. due to his own dealings with drugs and a couple of stints in prison during the 90s. The 80s were quintessentially the beginning of Downey’s acting career with varied performances in films like LESS THAN ZERO as a troubled young drug addict and WEIRD SCIENCE as Ian the bully.
A release date has not been announced as it is early days yet, but it sounds like an interesting story to be told.
