Brit actor Reece Ritchie is set to be the star of an up and coming Fox television series about ancient Egypt, it was revealed today.
HIEROGLYPH will follow a young thief who is taken from prison to serve for the young pharaoh, navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and even sorcerers. Ritchie will play Shai, a young and handsome pharaoh who rules ancient Egypt with an iron fist and trusts no one. The first episode is set to be directed by REPO MEN and HOUSE director Miguel Sapochnik.
While Ritchie has had roles in such movies as THE LOVELY BONES and the upcoming HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS, this will be his first time on the American small screen.
With the rise of shows like SPARTACUS, we can only hope that HIEROGLYPH will bring us good things (Don’t let us down Fox!). It is expected to premiere in the 2014 season.
