Just yesterday our very own Sam Carey reviewed Alexander Payne’s upcoming black-and-white feature NEBRASKA for the 57th London Film Festival, and tonight the filmed debuted following a rain-soaked red carpet walk from the director in London’s West End. The film screens to the public in the ‘Journey’ section of the festival tomorrow and Tuesday evening.
NEBRASKA revolves around an ageing, booze-addled father who makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son in order to claim a million dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize.
Sam had this to say about the film in his review:
“NEBRASKA is a film with everything you could ask for, yet it once again misses the tightness so often lacking in Payne’s work. With the final thirty minutes unravelling the previously taut yarn at a formulaic trudge, this isn’t to say NEBRASKA doesn’t remain wonderful viewing, but frustratingly prevents it from reaching perfection.”
Despite that sounding a little negative, Sam still awarded the film four stars. Read his full review here, and check out some images of Mr. Payne on the red carpet in Leicester Square earlier on Friday evening.
