THN’s Craig Hunter recently posted info on the fact that the director of the first post-SKYFALL James Bond movie could very well be one Christopher Nolan, and while those rumours remain just that, word has hit the virtual street today that another hotter than hot helmer could be in the running too.
The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider, a superb source of movie news info, tweeted that DRIVE helmer Nicolas Winding Refn, is also ‘in the mix’ to direct the film for EON Productions.
Nicolas Winding Refn makes moves about men of action & few words. James Bond is cut from that mold. Refn may not get it but he’s in the mix.

So, what do we think of this? Referring to the Nolan thing, I personally don’t think he will touch it, especially as he has other things on the go, kicking off with original story INTERSTELLER, and he has his feet well and truly under the table at Warner Brothers. In terms of Refn, I can’t see this either, but he’s an interesting choice after seeing his PUSHER trilogy and the recent British remake, which he co-produced.
So, let’s throw this in the mix from our mate Alex Billington over at First Showing who managed to interview Refn over in Cannes last week.
“I love Bond… I love him.” Refn is quoted as saying in the video that Alex posted of his interview.
His reaction is very interesting to watch, as his body language and big smile seem to indicate he might be a top contender, however he doesn’t actually say yes at all.
Check out the video interview.
What do we all think of his prospects?
