Fans were left pondering which character GAME OF THRONES actor Peter Dinklage was set to play, when it was revealed he’d joined the cast of the latest X-MEN instalment as a primary villain. While it’s been rumoured that he would be playing the notorious creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinels, we’ve still only been left with whispers and guess work. Now, director Bryan Singer’s latest tweet from the film’s set has a photo featuring an actor draped in a “Trask Industries” uniform, which pretty much confirms Dinklage will take on the part of the evil genius, Boliver Trask.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will unite the cast of the original trilogy, with those of Matthew Vaughn’s impressive period prequel, FIRST CLASS. These include Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, with newcomers Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Omar Sy and Evan Peters.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Just because Trask is going to be in the movie doesn’t mean Dinklage is going to play him. I still think he’s going to play Gateway.

Indeed, this photo does not really give us anything new. We knew sentinels were going to play a major role, so understandably Bolivar Trask will also play a role. There is no connection yet between Dinklage and Trask.

Bolivar Trask already made an appearance in Xmen 3 (played by Bill Duke). My money is on Dinklage either playing Arcade (providing Abrams is truthful in saying he plays a villain), or JJ mindfucks everybody and has him play Puck, opening the door for an Alpha Flight film.

Duke played a character named Trask, period. No first name given, either in the film or in the credits. Also, his character had nothing to do with the actual Bolivar Trask; he was just a regular military guy. I doubt many people even knew he was named Trask in the first place – I know I didn’t until some movie nerd pointed it out recently. And they could go the X2 route, meaning they could make him play that character (or an equivalent) but rename him, a la Jason Stryker/Mastermind. To put an end to that Puck thing: does he wear tailored suits? Because Dinklage does in the movie, just like Trask in the comics.
