James Franco is no stranger to a bit of explicit material, with his short film THE FEAST OF STEPHEN and his upcoming film INTERIOR. LEATHER BAR. (about the lost 40 minutes of CRUISING) making their way through the festivals this year. But now he has taken it to documentary, producing a new one about one of the biggest porn websites online.
KINK, directed by Christina Voros, will take a closer look at the adult website kink.com, which specialises in BDSM. The documentary looks at demystifying the culture itself, and how the website hopes to be an educational tool for the community. While the documentary might be about one of the biggest adult entertainment websites, there will be no nudity and no explicit depictions of sex.
Director Christina Voros talked about her process with the documentary:
“Apparently a producer had tried to do a reality TV show about the place at some point and it had left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. They had felt manipulated, and like their lives had been taken out of context for the sake of selling bad television. But slowly everyone came around. This film couldn’t have turned out as it did without the
generosity of trust and openness that the Kink staff shared with me.”
KINK will be premiering at 2013 Sundance Film Festival, but there is currently no release date.
