F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel THE GREAT GATSBY, gets another big-screen take following classic adaptations starring Alan Ladd (1949) and Robert Redford (1974). This time, Baz Luhrmann directs the focus of the life of Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island and fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. All before becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy, when drawn into Gatsby’s circle of friends.
The film was expected this Christmas before being moved to later next year with an epic all-star cast including Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, Callan McAuliffe, Gemma Ward and Adelaide Clemens. Check out the first character poster (expect more to follow) of stunning Fisher’s Myrtle Wilson, as well as a new image of Mulligan and DiCaprio’s Daisy Buchanan and Gatsby.
THE GREAT GATSBY is expected to hit cinemas in the US on the 10th May 2013, followed a week later in the UK.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
