Park Chan Wook In Talks For Western ‘The Brigands Of Rattleborge’

If Park Chan Wook isn’t on your list of 10 Best Directors Of The Last 10 Years, then chances are you haven’t seen all of his films since 2002’s SYMPATHY FOR MR VENGEANCE. He’s amazed us with OLDBOY (2003), LADY VENGEANCE ( 2005), I’M A CYBORG BUT THAT’S OK (2006) and THIRST (2009). Recently he’s been putting the finishing touches to his first English language film STOKER starring Nicole Kidman. That film’s not even out yet and already the man’s in talks to helm a western titled THE BRIGANDS OF RATTLEBORGE

THE BRIGANDS OF RATTLEBORGE is based on a screenplay by S. Craig Zahler that was on The Black List in 2006. Red Granite Pictures and Mythology Entertainment will be financing the project. The script sees a gang of outlaws raid a small town under the cover of a huge thunderstorm. After the raid the town’s sheriff and doctor team up to seek vengeance. Sounds right up Park’s alley, and the idea of torrential rain as cover is already creating gorgeous images in my mind.

Park Chan Wook’s next film STOKER is released 1st March 2013. It stars Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney, Matthew Goode, Lucas Till, Jacki Weaver, and Alden Ehrenreich.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies.
