Not even a week has passed by and we have yet another reported filled role for THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. It has been circulated – and apparently confirmed – that sarcastic-but-serious funny man Philip Seymour Hoffman is to star alongside Jennifer Lawrence et al. in the sequel, which is to be directed by Francis Lawrence.
According to the reports, Hoffman will play Head Gamekeeper (for the Games) Plutarch Heavensbee. Not much else has been released about the character but of course, if you’ve read the books, you’ll know all the ins and outs. The role comes after a string of major projects featuring Hoffman, including JACK GOES BOATING (which he also produced and directed), MONEYBALL and THE IDES OF MARCH.
I’m already a massive fan of Mr Hoffman and I was surprisingly entertained by the first HUNGER GAMES installment, so hopefully this’ll be a match made in heaven. He’s a huge awards magnet (by my count, he has won/been nominated for a grand total of 92 different titles), so it’s obvious he has the talent. Have you read the books? If so, what do you think of him being cast in the role? Let us know!
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, directed by Francis Lawrence, is due for release from 22nd November 2013.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
