It’s an ongoing global phenomenon: It seems like every film studio under the sun is cashing in on the high demand for supernatural thrillers that involve characters that range from vampires and werewolves to zombies and ghosts. However, a Swedish film is in the works that promises to introduce audiences to a completely different sort of blood-thirsty villain.
On-the-rise Swedish director Mikael Marcimain has been tapped to direct a film adaptation of author Stefan Spjut’s novel, STALLO. A bestseller in his native Sweden, Spjut’s thriller revolves around Stallo’s — human-like creatures who feed off of human flesh.
Film rights were recently purchased by the Stockholm-based production company Bob Film and the project is scheduled to start filming in late-2014 or early-2015.
