If there was a day to announce new horror films going into production, then Halloween is the day to do it. After what was deemed to be a bloody awful performance at the US box-office, the studio behind the remake of FRIGHT NIGHT have green-lit a sequel to the film, but it will go direct to DVD, at least in the home territories.
FRIGHT NIGHT, which starred Colin Farrell and David Tennant, only managed to get back $18 million of its reported $30 million budget upon its initial run, but that hasn’t stopped Dreamworks pushing ahead with a follow up. The new film will be directed by Eduardo Rodriguez, who has a string of low-budget horrors to his name, including one set for release this year entitled EL GRINGO. The only other thing we know about this ‘exciting project’ is that it will be a stand alone story and that shooting will kick off in Romania very soon, with none of the original actors expected to return.
