Great First Still And Cast News For Nick Hornby’s ‘A Long Way Down’

I’ve been a fan of Nick Hornby’s books since HIGH FIDELITY came out in 1995 and also the wonderful film adaptation in 2000 starring John Cusack. We can’t forget that it also introduced the enigmatic Jack Black to the world and what a performance from everyone with great direction from Stephen Frears. Hornby has also had adaptation success with ABOUT A BOY (2002), FEVER PITCH (1997) and his screenplay of Lynn Barber’s AN EDUCATION gave the Arsenal man an Oscar nomination.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that principle photography has begun on A LONG WAY DOWN. The premise is, initially, a rather sombre one as four strangers meet on New Years Eve on a rooftop as they plan to commit suicide but all expect to be on their own. Instead of jumping, they make a pact that means they’ll stay alive and together until Valentine’s Day…at least.

Signed up are Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul (BREAKING BAD) and Imogen Poots (28 WEEKS LATER) for the four lead roles plus they’ve just announced the additions of Sam Neill and Rosamund Pike (AN EDUCATION). All-in-all, a pretty impressive and unique line-up, if you ask me! As it’s early days, we only have the one shot currently but we can also report this will be filming on-location in Spain and England.

A LONG WAY DOWN has been adapted for the screen by rising Brit talent Jack Thorne (HOW I LIVE NOW) and will be directed by Pascal Chaumeil (HEARTBREAKER), we expect it to released last 2013.

Dan loves writing, film, music and photography. Originally from Devon, he did London for 4 years and now resides in Exeter. He also has a mild obsession with squirrels and cake. The latter being more of a hobby. Favourite movies include HIGH FIDELITY, ALMOST FAMOUS, ROXANNE, GOOD WILL HUNTING, JURASSIC PARK, too many Steve Martin films and Nolan's BATMAN universe.
