It seems an eternity since George Miller first confirmed he would return to the MAD MAX franchise that made his name. Delays and cancellations have plagued the project for a number of years, even when Mel Gibson was still set to headline. Now Tom Hardy will replace Gibson as the apocalyptic hero for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, which is set to roll before cameras this spring. And just to give fans of the classic franchise belief that the project will finally happen, we have some fantastic images of some of the vehicles that will feature in the film.
Joining Hardy on the South African shoot will be Charlize Theron. Miller has already confirmed that a script for a further two films are in the works, one of which is going by the title MAD MAX: FURIOSA. Looking at the said vehicles, the spirit of the originals franchise looks in keeping with the new film. All three of the previous action-packed films had their moments but MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR is still considered a masterpiece by many. Myself included.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
