Jennifer Lopez will be back on our screens in a few weeks in The Mother, a Netflix movie directed by Niki Caro. The film also stars Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick, Gael Garcia Bernal and Paul Raci, a solid cast for an interesting-looking movie from the director of Whale Rider and, more recently, Disney’s live-action Mulan movie.
The Mother will debut on Netflix around the world from 12th May.
The film follows a military-trained assassin (Lopez) who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she’s never met from ruthless criminals gunning for revenge.
Lopez has starred in Shotgun Wedding this year and appeared in her own Netflix documentary recently, titled Half Time. Loved the doc, Shotgun Wedding; not so much. This new film looks pretty decent, though and I’m keen to see it when it releases in just a few weeks.
Here’s the new trailer and some ace one-sheet art.
