Ben Stiller is reportedly up for playing the lead character from The Shining in a new stage version bound for London’s West End. Variety is reporting the news that the Hollywood actor, director, and producer is bound for the new production, based on the classic Stephen King novel previously adapted for the screen in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 movie with Jack Nicholson in the lead role of Torrance.
The book revolves around Torrance who is a reformed alcoholic holed up in a Colorado hotel acting as caretaker. The story has been adapted for the stage by Simon Stephen and will reportedly stick more to the book rather than Kubrick’s film.
The production will hit the London stage in January 2023 and then could transfer to Broadway, so reports the same outlet.
