Robert I, also known as Robert the Bruce, was the king of the Scots who secured Scotland’s independence from England. He was depicted on screen by Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen in Mel Gibson’s 1995 movie Braveheart and has also been played by Sandy Welch in The Bruce which was released just one year later.
Outlaw King stars Chris Pine as Robert The Bruce, supported by a supreme cast that also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla), Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones).
Robert The Bruce will also be depicted in another film in development, due for release in 2019. The film will indeed be titled Robert The Bruce and will see Macfadyen play the character once again, 24 years after the release of Braveheart.
Outlaw King will arrive on Netflix on 9th November. Watch the full Outlaw King trailer in the player below.
