20th Century Fox has snapped up the rights to John Green’s novel Turtles All the Way Down and plans to adapt to a feature, so reports Variety. Green’s previous work The Fault In Our Stars, which starred Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, was a huge hit for the studio making well over $300 million at the box-office. The studio also adapted Green’s Paper Towns in 2015.
Here’s the plot of Turtles All The Way Down from the source material.
Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.
Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.
“It doesn’t mean there will definitely be a movie, but it means that there might be one,” Green said on his YouTube channel following the announcement. “So now’s the time to begin inundating me with casting suggestions.”
More news on the film adaptation as we get it.
