Catherine Zeta Jones has joined the ever-growing and indeed very A-list cast of PLAYING THE FIELD, a film that already has Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Dennis Quaid and Uma Thurman in the mix. Gabriele Muccino (THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS) will direct the film which The Los Angeles Times, who broke news of Zeta Jones’s casting, describe the film as revolving around a “Beckham-like pro (Butler) who after living a playboy life throughout Europe returns to his estranged American wife and child to try to reconcile with them. He begins coaching youth soccer to show his commitment.”
Mrs. Michael Douglas will play a vixen newscaster in the piece.
The film originall started out as a film revolving around children’s baseball (Little League), but soon evolved into a film about football (soccer).
