Featuring the lead voice talents of Will Arnett and Liam Neeson the first trailer arrives for animated 3D comedy THE NUT JOB. Based on his own animated short SURLY SQUIRREL, the film is directed by Peter Lepeniotis and follows a mischievous squirrel and his rat best “Buddy” with a plan to steal a mountain of nuts, all to save the rest of the wildlife living in his park. However, their store heist of outrageous proportions has the duo unwittingly finding themselves embroiled in a much more complicated and hilarious journey.
While the animation looks stunning, you’ll be forgiven in thinking Pixar or DreamWorks are behind the project. In fact, Canadian studio Toonbox Entertainment are the ones bringing us their first feature-length adventure.
THE NUT JOB is released in the US on 17th January and co-stars Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias and Katherine Heigl. No UK date known as yet.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
