Javier Bardem, the actor riding high off his recent Academy Award nomination for BIUTIFUL, and indeed today’s news of the birth of his and Penelope Cruz’s first child, is set to star in Ron Howard’s multi-platform adaptation of Stephen King’s THE DARK TOWER. The series will spawn three movies and a television show, all starring the same cast, and Deadline report that Bardem is up for the lead.
The blog reports that bardem has been offered the role of Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger.
THE DARK TOWER is a story set across seven novels by King, and Howard is set the first movie in the series of three.
What do we think. Bardem? Good choice?
