‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ sequel sets release date for April 2026

In an official statement from Nintendo, a sequel to the billion-dollar animated feature The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to come to screens in April 2026.

A news release on the official Nintendo website says that the film will debut on US screens on 3rd April 2026, three years after the release of the first movie. The Super Mario Bros. Movie grossed over $1.3 billion around the globe last year.

The film will be produced by Chris Meledandri, Founder and CEO of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director, Fellow of Nintendo, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, and written by Matthew Fogel. 

Universal Pictures will once again distribute the film worldwide.
