This year’s Golden Globes were dished out in a ceremony in Beverly Hills last night with the big winners being Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans and the superb The Banshees of Inisherin. The former took home best motion picture – drama, while ‘Banshees’ won the best motion picture – musical or comedy award.
There were also gongs for Steven Spielberg, who bagged best director, while ‘Banshees’ filmmaker Neal McDonough scored the best screenplay award for the film. Cate Blanchett (Tár) scored best actress in the drama field, while Michelle Yeoh took the ‘musical or comedy equivalent for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Actor-wise, Colin Farell took home the musical or comedy award for ‘Banshees’ while Austin Butler won the drama category for his role as the title character in Elvis.
Angela Basset won best supporting actress for her work in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while the big audience pleasing award of the night went to Ke Huy Quan, who won supporting actor for Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Best animated film went to Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, while Argentina, 1985 won best motion picture – non-English language.
