A Gangs Of New York TV series is reportedly on the way. Miramax Television are behind a new telling of Herbert Asbury’s 1927 non-fiction book ‘The Gangs of New York’ with the film’s director Martin Scorsese said to be on board to executive produce and direct the first two episodes.
Deadline reports that Brett Leonard (Shantaram) is penning the show which is rumoured to be set around characters not seen in Scorsese’s original feature version. That film famously starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diaz, the story revolving around rival gangs in 1800s New York.
Further details on the small screen project haven’t yet been revealed. There’s a bit more at the end of the link above.
More as it comes our way.
