A TV series based on the superb modern western Hell Or High Water is reportedly in the works. The trade papers are reporting that SK Global, which produced the original film, and Fox Entertainment, are behind the planned production.
The original film, released back in 2016, starred Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, and Ben Foster, a crime thriller from the screenwriter of Sicario, Taylor Sheridan, and the director of Starred Up, David Mackenzie. In the movie, which had a premiere at the same year’s Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard banner, two brothers (Pine and Foster) resort to a calculated bank robbery spree that puts them on a collision course with a veteran Texas Ranger (Bridges), who is determined to take them down.
I loved the film and it looks like there’s some great talent behind the planned TV series, too. Variety reports that Dopesick and Stranger Things co-executive producer Jessica Mecklenburg is working on the TV version, exec producing and writing.
We’ll bring you more news as it comes in.
