John Woo returns to Hollywood for new action film ‘Silent Night’ with Joel Kinnaman

The film will reportedly be dialogue free.

It has been nearly 20 years since John Woo made a movie in Hollywood. Following hits like Face/ Off and Broken Arrow, as well as Windtalkers and then Paycheck in 2003, Woo took a step away from Tinseltown. Now, it looks like he is returning to American cinema with a new project with Joel Kinnaman titled Silent Night.

It sounds like this is far from a holiday movie as the action – and we mean ACTION – revolves around a father who is forced into the dark underworld to avenge his deceased son. The project will reportedly be dialogue free with Kinnaman playing said father in the lead role.

The news comes via Deadline who say that further casting is underway with dozens of trained doves also being wrangled ready for their part in the movie. I might have made the second part of that sentence up.

Financing seems to be in place for the highly anticipated project which will be Woo’s first U.S. based film since Paycheck with Ben Affleck.
