Road to FrightFest: Interview with ‘Red Snow’ director Sean Nichols Lynch

Screening on Thursday 26th August 2021.

On 26th August Arrow Video FrightFest returns to Cineworld Leicester Square to once more unleash a tsunami of dark-hearted offerings. Over the five day duration the cinema will host around sixty feature length films as well as a ton of short films. In the rundown to the festival we’ve been lucky enough to speak with several filmmakers to find out a little more about their projects and why you should be adding them to your watchlist.

Red Snow, directed by Sean Nichols Lynch, screens on Thursday 26th August on Discovery Screen Two in the late night 11pm slot. Lynch’s film offers the FrightFest audience a funny, gory, and heartfelt story of Christmas and vampires. Set at Lake Tahoe, Red Snow follows vampire fanatic and aspiring novelist Olivia (Dennice Cisneros) as she discovers a vampire, Luke (Nico Bellamy), in her house. Believing that Christmas has come early for her, Olivia quickly begins to live out her vampire fantasies, but her dreams are twisted into something darker after Luke’s vampiric friends arrive to rescue him.

Lynch is a self-confessed fanatic of the sub-genre, citing The Lost Boys and Fright Night as two of his favourites. His passion is clear as Red Snow pays homage to so many of the greats, whilst offering his own perspective on the pre-established lore. Described by some as Twilight meets Dracula, I would personally say that Red Snow is a bloody potion of True Blood, Die Hard, and The Lost Boys. Ahead of the UK premiere at FrightFest, we spoke with Sean at length to dig a little deeper into how one goes about crafting a story containing the most iconic movie monster whilst still making it fresh and new.

Red Snow will receive its UK premiere at Arrow Video FrightFest on Thursday 26th August 2021. Tickets for the screening can be purchased on the FrightFest website.
