HBO has landed a new trailer for Scenes Of A Marriage, the upcoming re-imagining of the 1973 Ingmar Bergman series which will be released as a series later this year. Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain lead the cast of the new mini-series which will come to HBO stateside in September.
Adapted from Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 Swedish classic, and starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, Scenes from a Marriage re-examines the show’s iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage, and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple.
The series was said to have inspired the likes of Woody Allen and Richard Linklater, the latter reportedly using the series as inspiration for his iconic Before Sunset and its two sequels.
The original 1973 Scenes From A Marriage was written and directed by Ingmar Bergman and released to huge acclaim. The new series will be split across five episodes. We presume that the series will get a first-look on the UK’s Sky Atlantic and NOW where most HBO content is syndicated. More as it comes in.
Here’s the new trailer.
