Netflix has dropped the trailer for Love and Monsters, a new sci-fi adventure led by Dylan O’Brien which has just been nominated for the Best Visual Effects Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards. The film will be released on the Netflix platform next month in all territories outside of the United States (the film was released there in 2020).
Seven years after he survived the monster apocalypse, lovably hapless Joel (O’Brien) leaves his cozy underground bunker behind on a quest to reunite with his ex.
Jessica Henwick, Dan Ewing, Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt are also amonst the cast.
Here’s the full, official synopsis:
Seven years after the Monsterpocalypse, all of humanity has been forced to live in underground colonies. When Joel Dawson (Dylan O’Brien) reconnects over the radio with his high school girlfriend Aimee, who has been living on the coast 80 miles away, he begins to fall for her again. Joel realizes that there’s nothing left for him underground, and despite all the danger that stands in his way, he decides he must venture out to find his true love.
Love and Monsters hits Netflix from 14th April. Here’s the trailer.
