Here’s a look at the film that opened this year’s TIFF, David Byrne’s American Utopia, a Spike Lee joint that has already gained huge acclaim from pretty much all that have seen it.
David Byrne’s American Utopia brings the critically acclaimed Broadway show to HBO in a one-of-a-kind film directed by Oscar and Emmy-winner Spike Lee. Recorded during its run at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre in New York City, David Byrne is joined by an ensemble of 11 musicians, singers, and dancers from around the globe, inviting audiences into a joyous dreamworld where human connection, self-evolution, and social justice are paramount.
This actually debuts on HBO Max Stateside from 17th October but it will also continue its tour around the festival circuit, stopping at the London Film Festival which runs for twelve days from 7 – 18th October. Watch the HBO trailer below.
