Billions star Paul Giamatti has joined the cast of Disney’s Jungle Cruise. The actor will re-team with his San Andreas co-star Dwayne Johnson for the film, which is soon to start production over at the house of mouse. Emily Blunt, Jesse Plemons, Jack Whitehall and Edgar Ramirez are also amongst the cast of the film, which takes inspiration from the classic Disneyland theme park ride.
Jaume Collet-Serra is directing for the studio with filming set to start very soon. The Hollywood Reporter reports the news of Giamatti’s casting and says that the film will see Johnson play a boat captain who takes his sister (Blunt) and her brother (Whitehall) on a mission to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. Wild animals and a competing German expedition figure into the proceedings.
Giamatti will play a crusty harbormaster, so reports the trade.
The movie will shoot through the summer for a 2019 release.
