Star Wars Celebration 2017: 40th Anniversary Panel, Carrie Fisher tribute and more

Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 has kicked off and day one featured a fantastic opening with panels dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the beloved franchise. Warwick Davis took to the stage to host a special 40th anniversary panel for the Star Wars movies, an hour-long discussion that featured Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Billy Dee Williams, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and more.

There was also a touching tribute to the late Carrie Fisher from her daughter Billie Lourd.

“My mom used to say she never knew where Princess Leia ended and Carrie Fisher began,” Lourd said.

“She went from being an unknown actress, the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, to Princess Leia, a character synonymous with the idea of the ultimate strong woman: a soldier, a fighter, a beyond-capable, independent, sensible woman in control of her own destiny, a rebel who resisted the norm.

“She was imperfect in many ways, but her imperfections and willingness to speak about them are what made her more than perfect.”

You can check out the tribute, along with highlights of the 40th anniversary panel and some select interviews with Hamill, Ford and Lucas below.
