2016 Critics’ Choice Awards announced: ‘La La Land’ takes Best Picture

2016 Critics Choice awards: Winners announced for both film and television at the annual shindig.

2016 Critics Choice awards

The 2016 Critics’ Choice awards winners have been revealed overnight, and unsurprisingly La La Land was a huge winner on the night. The Damien Chazelle-directed and Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone-starring musical movie bagged Best Picture, Best Song for ‘City Of Stars‘, Best Editing for Tom Cross, Best Cinematography for Linus Sandgren, Best Production Design for David Wasco and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco, Best Score byJustin Hurwitz, and Best Original Screenplay (tied with Manchester By The Sea) and Best Director for Chazelle.

Moonlight, another awards favourite, bagged Best Acting Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali. In the main acting categories, Casey Affleck took Best Actor for Manchester By The Sea, while Natalie Portman was awarded Best Actress for Jackie. Viola Davis, who is having a great year, took Best Supporting Actress for Fences.
