Bad Boys For Life: Director Joe Carnahan talks about the upcoming Bad Boys 3.
The third film in the Bad Boys series, Bad Boys For Life, will be released in 2018.
There will be a new Bad Boys movie shooting very soon. The film is expected to roll into production next year for a 2018 release, and we’re already getting all kinds of excited.
Joe Carnahan is directing the third movie in the franchise, and has been speaking with io9-Gizmodo about the big-budget actioner that will reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Carnahan told the site that the film, Bad Boys For Life, is “the strongest script of any of those movies. Hands down. In a walk over.”
“Unless you’re Toy Story 3, usually third ones aren’t the strongest, and I think this one will be the strongest of the trilogy thus far,” he added.
“There’s a lot of funny shit in this movie,” he said. “And there’s also a very mysterious, but tonally spot-on story that I think is kind of perfect for where we are in this day and age, where the guys are and reflectively, a very modern take on these guys. It’s kind of what becomes of Bad Boys when they’re not boys anymore.”
Shooting commences on Bad Boys For Life in the new year, and a release date for January 2018 is already penciled in. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the first two movies is also back.
“Jerry’s been an integral part of this thing since we started,” Carnahan said. “He’s fantastic. He’s always got a really great idea when you need one. He’s always Johnny-on-the-spot with that stuff.”
