Zac Efron has joined the cast of the P.T. Barnum biopic The Greatest Showman On Earth. Hugh Jackman is playing the title character in the movie, which revolves around the life of Barnum, the legendary circus entertainer.
Phineas Taylor “P. T.” Barnum was an American showman and businessman remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the Barnum & Bailey Circus.
Sex in the City writer Jenny Bicks is writing the screenplay for the musical film, which primarily focusses on the creation of Barnum’s three-ring circus and his infatuation with “Swedish Nightingale” Jenny Lind.
Efron is officially still ‘in-talks’ to join the project, though it’s not clear from the original report over at Variety as to which character he will play.
Efron was recently seen in Bad Neighbours 2, and will next year join Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, Jon Bass, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera in the Baywatch movie, which opens in May.
Jackman is currently shooting the third stand-alone Wolverine movie in New Orleans. He is expected to head to the circus as Barnum following completion of the X-Men spin-off.
