Rogue One trailer: Lucasfilm give us our first taster of the stand-alone Star Wars story, which hits cinemas this December.
Disney have literally just debuted the first Rogue One trailer, or should we say Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The film is being directed by Gareth Edwards, and we’ll see it come to cinemas this December, one year of from The Force Awakens, however, this is a stand-alone story that takes place just after A New Hope. Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed are amongst the cast of the highly anticipated movie (see the original casting announcement over here). Pan down for the first Rogue One trailer.
Rogue One is the first film in the new standalone movies from Lucasfilm. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. It is reported set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
The saga will continue in the sequels, the next of which will debut in December 17th. The as yet untitled film is being shot in and around Pinewood in the U.K. with Rian Johnson directing. It, like Rogue One is produced by Kathleen Kennedy.
Disney/ Lucasfilm will debut Rogue One one in cinemas on December 16th, 2016. The Rogue One trailer premiered today on Disney sister network’s AM show Good Morning America. In the promo, we can clearly see an Imperial starship, the Death Star and even At-Ats!!! Yes, At-Ats!
Watch the Rogue One trailer below without further delay – I think that we like this one more than that first The Force Awakens trailer. We’re off to watch it again!
