Alex Winter says ‘Bill & Ted 3″ could shoot later this year

Bill and Ted 3 movie: Everything is in place for a start later this year, or early next, says Alex Winter.

Looks like a Bill and Ted 3 movie is a go. There have been lots of rumours circulating over the past few months about the third movie in the Bill & Ted series, but now it looks that the film will finally shoot later this year. Alex Winter, who plays Bill S. Preston (Esquire) in the movie, spoke with Simon Thompson over on Forbes about the planned flick, which will also star Keanu Reeves.

When asked if the film would have a ‘start date of end of this year or early next year,’ Winter replied, “Hopefully the former, possibly the latter.”

Winter also seemingly confirmed that Keanu Reeves would return as Ted too. “How the **** would we make it if he wasn’t on board?” Winter said. “People always ask if Keanu’s doing it and I’m like, ‘No, I’m making a Bill movie.’ Of course he’s in it. I can’t make a Bill & Ted movie without Keanu.”

The first ‘Bill & Ted’ movie, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, hit in 1989 and its sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey entered cinemas two years later in 1991. A Bill and Ted 3 movie will come at least 25 years since the last one. It has taken a long time, but it sounds like everything is in order to make this a go project now.

“We’ve been working on it for, like, six years,” Winter continued. “We’re knee deep in the script, it’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two, they are fantastic writers, and the script is great. We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio – we’re just trying to nail down a start date.”

You can read more over on Forbes at the end of the link above. Winter speaks more about the film, and which character we may see return in the sequel. There’s also some great stuff about his upcoming Frank Zappa documentary which is being crowdfunded over on Kickstarter.
