This summer, Wanted and Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov will bring his vision of the classic Ben Hur tale to the screen. Starring Jack Huston in the lead role, the film will be an adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ”, and will actually be the third time the story has been brought to the screen. The most famous adaptation is the 1959 epic that starred Charlton Heston, a film that is deemed a classic, and the winner of handfuls of Oscars. Ahead of its August release, we have a first look at Huston in the film, and notably the famous chariot race.
Take a look.
As you can see from the two images, courtesy of USA Today, Morgan Freeman also appears in the film, as does Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, and Pilou Asbæk.
Huston spoke a little of his role. “There’s something really beautiful about it, especially in the current climate of the world, about different religions and people being at odds against each other. How do we find our way out of this, how do we forgive, how do we forget, how do we move on, how should we treat our fellow human?”
Ben Hur is slated for release on August 12th in the U.S. and August 26th in the U.K.
