Rock The Kasbah: UK Trailer for new Bill Murray & Barry Levinson movie

When Barry Levinson teams up with Bill Murray, it has got to be something good, right?! Out in the UK on March 18, Rock The Kasbah definitely turns up the unusual with echoes of Good Morning Vietnam but only because there’s music, comedy and a war-related environment involved.

Starring Murray as Richie Lanz, an ageing rock manager from California, this is actually based on real-life events after Lanz discovers a unique singing talent in Afghanistan. Left in war-torn Kabul with his last client (played by Zooey Deschanel), he discovers Salima Khan (Leem Lubany), a Pashtun teenager with a beautiful voice and the hope of becoming the first woman to compete in their version of ‘American Idol‘.

Check out the trailer for more background, let’s hope it hasn’t snatched all the good jokes straight away but there’s sure to be a serious edge as well. I also love the cast involved and seeing Bruce Willis randomly turning up again…

Rock The Kasbah opens in the UK on March 18.
