Actress and singer Zendaya has been cast in Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man reboot, so reports Deadline. The 19-year-old, full name Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, was heavily screen-tested for the part, which is a character named Michelle.
Zendaya will star opposite Tom Hollander, who will play the title role and his alter ego, Peter Parker. The website implies that the role of Michelle could be the love interest of the young Parker in the movie, which will start shooting soon for a 2017 release.
Zendaya is best known for her roles on the The Disney Channel shows Shake it Up! and K.C. Undercover.
Spider-Man, or whatever the studios decide to call it, will be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), and produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige. It will be rolled out in the US from July 7th, 2016.
