Quentin Tarantino horror film: The filmmaker wants to move to a different genre for his next two films.
Quentin Tarantino‘s new movie The Hateful Eight is finally released in UK cinemas this Friday, and despite the fact that some UK cinemas won’t be screening it, we’re sure he’ll have another cult classic on his hands. The legendary director has said that he plans to quit sooner rather than later, but in a new interview with NME, the filmmaker states that we may see a Quentin Tarantino horror film before his career is out, which is probably two to three movies away.
“It usually takes me about three years to make a movie anyway, so you’re talking about almost a decade left,” the director told the magazine. “I don’t want to be the guy that’s doing this forever. There should be an end.”
So far he’s made movies in the crime, WWII, martial arts and western genres, but it seems that horror or even an old-school gangster film could be amongst those three last movies.
“There is not a genre left where I have the same burning desire that I had to do a WWII movie (Inglourious Basterds) or a martial-arts movie (Kill Bill),” he said. “I think maybe the one genre left might be a 1930s gangster movie, that kind of John Dillinger thing. I’m also interested in doing something contemporary, where I can have a character who gets in a car, turns on the radio so I can have a cool driving montage. And if I had all the time in the world, I would love to make a really, really scary horror film, like The Exorcist.”
We love the idea of a Quentin Tarantino horror film. We’ll see if it happens. As always, more news as we get it. We’ll have our review of The Hateful Eight hitting the site in the next few days.
