Nicole Kidman Wonder Woman role goes to Robin Wright?

Nicole Kidman will definitely not be appearing in the now-shooting Wonder Woman movie. The Nicole Kidman Wonder Woman role, thought to be Diana Prince’s mother Queen Hippolyta, is reportedly going to Robin Wright, who was also attached to the project, but in a different part. Still with us?

The news of Nicole Kidman departing the high-profile Warner Bros./ D.C. project, which has been filming in the UK, came via Variety’s Justin Kroll via Twitter he revealed that “Kidman’s dates didn’t work out”.

Bad news for Nicole. Great news for Robin Wright – though nothing has been officially confirmed if Wright has the Queen Hippolyta role – though she is definitely in the film.

Wonder Woman will be released in cinemas in 2017 though the character will be seen in next March’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious series) will play the iconic female character who we got a glimpse of in the very special effects heavy Batman V Superman trailer a couple of weeks ago, and in the superb character posters this past week.

Gadot landed the part in December 2013. Zack Snyder said the following after announcing her for the highly coveted role.

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Patty Jenkins (Monster) will direct the film which also stars Chris Pine. Judging by the recent set photos that have popped up throughout the interweb, the film will be largely set during World War I, but this hasn’t been confirmed by the studio.

Wonder Woman will hit cinemas on June 23, 2017, five months before the first Justice League movie, which will also feature the character.

More news as it rolls in.
