Dirty Dancing TV remake confirmed; Abigail Breslin to star

Dirty Dancing

A remake of the classic Patrick Swayze movie Dirty Dancing has been confirmed. While a remake of the hit 1987 movie has been in the works for some time, it has been confirmed that a 3-hour redo of the classic will head to TV screens, with Abigail Breslin set to play the iconic role of Baby.

Breslin was most recently seen in this summer’s Pitch Perfect 2, the brilliant Zombieland a few years ago, and in the 2006 movie Little Miss Sunshine, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA and Oscar.

ABC is the network behind the planned special with the story staying the same as the 1987 original rather than taking anything from the extended Dirty Dancing musical, which is equally as excellent.

No word on who will fill the dancing shoes of the late Patrick Swayze in the film as yet, but we’ll obviously keep you posted. A-list talent mentioned in the same breath as Dirty Dancing in the past include Justin Timberlake and Zac Efron.
