Biggest Movie Flops of 2015 revealed: Rock The Kasbah, Jem and the Holograms and Blackhat top the Forbes list.
Biggest Movie Flops Of 2015 revealed by Forbes // Rock The Kasbah tops the list
Here’s an interesting set of figures for you. Forbes has just published their list of the Biggest movie flops of 2015. There are some very pretty horrifying numbers here, and some of the titles have been in the press for their disappointing numbers as the worldwide box-office.
Forbes say that to compile their list of the biggest movie flops of 2015 they’ve used information from Box Office Mojo, IMDB and other sources to find worldwide box office and estimated production budgets. They ranked the films based on what percentage of their budgets they earned back at the theatre as of November 18th, 2015, and only looked at movies that opened in more than 2,000 theatres to screen out films that had small theatrical openings. The list doesn’t include any title that opened domestically in November.
Jem and the Holograms
Some of these films may not have actually been released in the UK as yet, like Rock The Kasbah and Jem and the Holograms for example. but nevertheless, this isn’t good for any movie featured. Topping the biggest movie flops of 2015 list is the Bill Murray starrer Rock The Kasbah (which has rolled out in some European territories in November), and the Sean Penn movieThe Gunman, which we thought was pretty decent.
Decent films do no guarantee box-office, and Universal Steve Jobs, which, while having not made it onto this list, did disappoint in its north American box-office numbers. Speaking of Universal; while they have had an amazing run with Furious 7, Minions and Jurassic World, all of which topped $1 billion worldwide, did have a couple of duds, including Jem and the Holograms which ranks fifth. The live-action adaptation of the cartoon was pulled from theatres just two weeks after its release. It will get a release in the UK in February, however.
Anyway, take a look at the complete of the biggest movie flops of 2015 below. It makes interesting reading.
