Following Vacation, Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Blackhat, as well as the forthcoming In The Heart Of The Sea, The Huntsman: Winter’s War and Ghostbusters, Chris Hemsworth is looking further into the future and a potential star turn in a new Allan Quatermain movie.
The Tracking Board reports that Hemsworth is looking at Barnett Brettler‘s spec script Allan Quatermain, which is currently Hollywood hot property. There’s no specific plot details, but the screenplay is based on the literary character that first appeared in H. Rider Haggard’s 1885 novel King Solomon’s Mines.
Richard Chamberlain, Patrick Swayze and more recently, in 2003’s League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Sean Connery have played the role in the past.
The best way to describe the character is something similar to Indiana Jones (Lucas partly based the character on Quaterman). He is an English-born professional big game hunter and occasional trader in southern Africa, and has appeared in multiple books and indeed movies since.
TTB says the script is housed over at Sony Pictures.
More news on this as we get it.
