The Hunger Games series draws to a close next week as the final chapter Mockingjay: Part 2 arrives. The story reaches it’s climax as Katniss sets out to bring down the regime set by President Snow once and for all. The film’s release will be bittersweet to fans, especially those who aren’t yet ready to say goodbye, but could it really be over? Years ago when the Harry Potter films came to an end we all thought that it was all over. Recently though we’ve had news of spin-offs, stage shows and more. This, combined with plans to create a theme park based around the Hunger Games, has sparked hope that things might not be over.
The question about whether we’ve really seen the end of Pan Em was asked during the press conference, here’s what producer Nina Jacobson had to say:
For me Suzanne Collins gave us three great books, we were fortunate enough to make four movies that I think really do justice to them. For me the story feels complete. I feel like we told the story we set out to tell. If Suzanne ever decides that she wants build out anything else in the world and that there are more stories to tell then I would sign up. But if she’s done, I’m done.
It seems that the ball is well and truly in the author’s court, so if you’re wanting more, you know where to direct your letters.
The Hunger Games reaches it’s dramatic conclusion in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two which arrives in UK cinemas on 19th November.
