Pitch Perfect 3 is in the works over at Universal following a near perfect run for the first movie, which grossed $260 million and counting earlier this year.
Pitch Perfect 3 has officially been confirmed. We are hearing that Universal are fast-tracking a third movie in the hit acapella franchise, following a hugely successful run for Pitch Perfect 2 in cinemas earlier this year. The musical movie beat Mad Max: Fury Road to the number one spot in various territories upon its release in May. A second sequel was inevitable.
Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, the franchise’s biggest stars, have already signed on the dotted line to return again. Frankly, the series is far from perfect without the prescence of their characters of Beca and Fat Amy respectively. Kay Cannon, the genius behind the comedic writing on the first two movies, will return for a third. What we don’t know presently is if Elizabeth Banks will return to direct. Banks also produced and starred as the hilarious Gail in the second film, and has been universally applauded for her multiple roles on the movie. She is signed to at least produce Pitch Perfect 3.
I love this franchise, but my only concern is to where it can go from here. The Barden Bellas have (SPOILER ALERT) won the national and international acapella contests, so where now? I’m sure Cannon has something up her sleeve for another adventure for the talented group of female singers in Pitch Perfect 3.
Pitch Perfect grossed over $117m from a $17 million budget back in 2012.
Pitch Perfect 3 will be released on July 21st, 2017.
Anna Kendrick is clearly excited.
