X-MEN: APOLOCALYPSE official started shooting today over in Canada and the first day has already has some news worthy tidbits beamed from the set. The first is this first look at Kodi Smit-McPhee (THE ROAD, SLOW WEST, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) as the character of Nightcrawler (originally played in X2 by Alan Cumming).
Check him out.
Nightcrawler is originally stated to be from a small village called Witzeldorf in the German state of Bavaria. In the X-Men animated series, it is said to be Neuherzl,[2] and in the film X2, he makes repeated references to his time in the Munich circus, though it is never explicitly specified from where he originated. X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is said to round out the X-Men ‘prequel’ movies which started with the rather good X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and last year’s equally good X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
The new movie will be set in the 1980s, and judging by the image that director Bryan Singer posted on Instagram today, specifically in the year 1983.
