The nominations for 2015’s House Of Fraser British Academy Television Awards have been announced this morning, seeing Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch among the nominees and Happy Valley, Marvellous, The Missing and Line Of Duty all receiving three nominations each.
Following a ‘Leading Actress’ triumph for her role in Broadchurch last year, Colman has received a ‘Female Performance in a Comedy Programme’ nomination for BBC Two sitcom Rev – an impressive fifth nomination in four consecutive years.
Meanwhile, Coleman’s co-star Tom Hollander has also been nominated for his role in Rev (‘Male Performance in a Comedy Programme’), seeing the pair compete with W1A’s Jessica Hynes and Hugh Bonneville respectively, another show in which Coleman has appeared.
Tamsin Greig (Episodes) and Catherine Tate (Catherine Tate’s Nan) have also received nominations in the female category, with Matt Berry (Toast Of London) and Brendan O’Carroll (Mrs Brown’s Boys – Christmas Special) completing the male category.
Elsewhere Benedict Cumberbatch has received a nomination for ‘Leading Actor’ in Sherlock – his third for the role and sixth BAFTA nomination of his career. Cumberbatch will now compete with James Nesbitt (The Missing), Toby Jones (Marvellous) and The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies’ Jason Watkins for the award, with the latter programme also nominated in the ‘Mini-Series’ category.
The Missing’s Ken Stott has received a nomination for ‘Supporting Actor’ and the programme has been nominated for ‘Drama Series’, taking its tally up to three, whilst Marvellous has received nominations for ‘Single Drama’ and “Supporting Actress’ for Gemma Jones, matching that total.
Happy Valley and Line Of Duty join Peaky Blinders to complete the ‘Drama Series’ category whilst seeing their respective stars Sarah Lancashire and Keeley Hawes compete for ‘Leading Actress’.
With Happy Valley’s James Norton also receiving a nomination for ‘Supporting Actor’ and Line Of Duty’s Vicky McClure getting the nod for ‘Supporting Actress’, both programmes also accomplished three nominations.
Netflix are the big winners in this years ‘International’ category, seeing two of their exclusives, House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black, going head-to-head with True Detective and The Good Wife. As with most categories at this years BAFTAs, thats a tough one to call.
