Guy Ritchie is swapping gangland London for something even more British in his upcoming KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE. Starring Charlie Hunnam as King Arthur, the film will once again recount the legend of said king and his loyal knights. The film has just started production, so Ritchie was keen on sharing this image via Twitter.
Rumour has it that the film is hopefully set to kick off a franchise of 6 films, which will probably include films in a shared universe type dealio, as is common these days. That will of course all depend on the box-office, and such a classic legend, being based on the 1485 collected tales by Thomas Mallory in his ‘Le Morte d’Arthur’, may have trouble in a still dominated by superheroes world.
It will have been 12 years since Antoine Fuqua’s magicless KING ARTHUR did moderate business at the worldwide box-office, but bombed in the US. Will Ritchie’s film crank up the fantastical elements and action to appeal to a wider audience? We’ll see as we get more information over the coming year.
KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE is released 22nd July 2016. It stars Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Jude Law, Eric Bana, and Djimon Hounsou.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
