EE BAFTA Nominations Announced

baftatvawards

It may be cold and miserable outside but the film award season is here to keep you company on these nasty winter evenings. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood will be descending on our capital very soon as London once again hosts the BAFTA awards ceremony. There’s nothing quite like the BAFTA’s, which are essentially a British version of the Oscars, it is an event which celebrates all that is good about British film. It even has something the other ceremonies don’t; a fan voted award honouring the up-and-comers in the acting circuit.

This morning Stephen Fry and Sam Claflin braved getting up whilst it was still dark to host the award announcements at the prestigious BAFTA building. 2014 was a very strong year for film, with the early releases of this year well up for the challenge. Earlier this week we brought you the EE Rising Star nominations (here if you missed it) and we can now reveal whose up for everything else.

Surprisingly it is THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL that leads with eleven nominations, THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING and BIRDMAN are close behind with ten. As you can see there are a lot of strong contenders with the Best Actor category the hardest to call. The winners will be announced during the ceremony which will once more be held at the very posh Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, on Sunday 8th February.
